Senior Research Associate

The Senior Research Associate will be integral in advancing various projects within a dynamic and collaborative setting. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong attention to detail, adept multitasking abilities, problem-solving skills, and a propensity for independent work. This position offers the chance to acquire new skills and engage in the development and optimization of assays for vaccine drug products aimed at clinical programs. The role encompasses a wide range of scientific assays essential for immuno-oncology and infectious disease drug development and delivery. Applicants should be self-driven, well-organized, knowledgeable about relevant literature, and passionate about scientific inquiry. Technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and independent thinking are critical for developing methods, techniques, and evaluating results in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to bioassay method development by optimizing and establishing cell-based potency assays to assess drug substances and products.
  • Conduct cell-based assays to evaluate cellular responses such as viability and cytokine secretion, including mechanism of action (MoA) studies.
  • Perform immunological assays, including multi-color flow cytometry, ELISA, functional assays, and cell-based reporter assays.
  • Isolate and cryogenically store immune cell populations from human blood products using immuno-magnetic beads.
  • Conduct characterization and stability testing of drug product formulations.
  • Manage the procurement, production, and maintenance of critical reagents, cell lines, and cell banks required for experiments.
  • Characterize physicochemical properties of drug products (size, zeta-potential, morphology, concentration, stability, interaction with proteins, etc.) using various techniques.
  • Develop assays to evaluate degradation pathways and define critical quality attributes of drug substances, delivery platforms, and products.
  • Maintain general lab safety and functionality, including equipment maintenance.
  • Identify and interpret inconsistent or anomalous results and experimental outcomes.
  • Organize details, analyze data, troubleshoot, and communicate findings in team meetings.
  • Proactively identify issues and develop solutions within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
  • Plan and coordinate experiment scheduling with other team members.
  • Accurately document experimental work in an electronic lab notebook.


  • BS with 4+ years or MS with 2+ years of laboratory research experience (preferably in the industry) in biology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in aseptic techniques and mammalian cell culture is essential; experience with primary cell lines is advantageous.
  • Skilled in immunological and biological assays (e.g., flow cytometry, ELISA, western blotting) and troubleshooting is a plus.
  • Experience with Benchling or similar electronic lab notebook platforms is beneficial.
