Pathologist Assistant

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform gross description and dissection for surgical pathology specimens.
• Submit diagnostic sections and review cases with pathologists.
• Instruct on proper specimen orientation and assist with frozen sections.
• Ensure appropriate tissue selection, inking of margins, and fixation.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (MAH, CLIA, CAP, TJC, etc.).
• Troubleshoot quality assurance issues and work with departmental personnel.
• Maintain the Frozen Section Room, including supplies and equipment.
• Manage records, inventory, reagents, and tissue processors.
• Train pathologists' assistant students, residents, and fellows.
• Provide guidance for Histologists and other Pathologists' Assistants.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Certification as a Pathologists' Assistant.
• Previous experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory.
• Proficiency in specimen processing and lab equipment.
