Quality Control Microbiology Technician

Indianapolis $55,000 - $65,000 Permanent

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, label, and maintain samples for microbiological analysis in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct environmental monitoring, including air, surface, and water sampling, to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Accurately document test results, deviations, and observations in laboratory notebooks and computerized systems, ensuring compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Ensure the calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment used in microbiological testing, including autoclaves, incubators, and microbiological analyzers.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and follow guidelines to maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to microbiological testing, providing solutions and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other departments to communicate test results, quality trends, and non-conformities effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a microbiology lab, preferably within a pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical setting.
  • Proficiency in microbiological testing techniques (e.g., PCR, microbiological culturing, sterility testing, endotoxin testing).
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment (e.g., incubators, autoclaves, microscopes).
  • Knowledge of GMP, GLP, and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data entry software.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent documentation practices, problem-solving skills, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
