Specimen Processor

Indianapolis 16 - 17/HR Contract

Job Responsibilities:

  • Receive, log, and accession incoming specimens according to established procedures.
  • Verify the accuracy of specimen information and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Safely handle and transport specimens to the appropriate testing areas.
  • Ensure proper labeling of specimens with patient information and relevant identifiers.
  • Maintain accurate records of specimen receipt, storage, and distribution.
  • Perform routine quality control checks on equipment and instruments used in specimen processing.
  • Monitor specimen integrity and address issues such as leaks, contamination, or improper packaging.
  • Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in a relevant field is a plus.
  • Previous experience in specimen processing or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
