Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

Indianapolis $70,000 - $85,000 Permanent

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Perform risk assessments and recommend solutions to eliminate or control workplace hazards.
  • Develop and conduct safety training programs for employees.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness and response plans, including drills and evacuation procedures.
  • Manage environmental programs such as waste management, air and water quality monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate EHS records and report on EHS performance to management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of EHS experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a GMP environment. 
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CSP, CIH, or CHMM) preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR certification a plus.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in EHS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
