Analytical Chemist II

Columbus $30.00 - $40.00 p/h Contract

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct accurate and timely analyses of assigned samples using a variety of basic and advanced laboratory equipment and techniques.
  • Utilize both basic and complex procedures, including pH testing, Loss on Drying, Residue on Ignition, Water Content by Karl Fischer, Assay/Impurities by HPLC, Dissolution, Residual Solvents by GC, and wet chemistry techniques such as titrations and sample derivatizations.
  • Document all laboratory testing meticulously, maintaining accurate and legible notebooks and records.
  • Engage in peer reviews of data, reports, and laboratory notebooks.
  • Execute method transfer/validation protocols.
  • Provide expertise in laboratory troubleshooting and propose effective solutions.
  • Mentor and train team members on new or revised skills and testing procedures.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of pharmaceutical product analysis experience in a cGMP-regulated lab environment.
  • Alternatively, an Associate's degree in Chemistry or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical experience in a cGMP-regulated environment.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in a non-science field with a minimum of 7 years of pharmaceutical experience in a cGMP-regulated environment.

Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of cGMP, USP/NF, and FDA guidelines and regulations.
  • Proficiency in analytical methods and advanced lab instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, GC, dissolution, wet chemistry).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, leadership, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with software associated with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and a Chromatography Data System (CDS).
  • Travel requirement of less than 5%.
  • Work primarily performed in a laboratory setting.
