Analytical Chemist I

Indianapolis $20.00 - $25.00/hr p/h Contract

Job Responsibilities:

  • Sample Analysis: Perform routine and non-routine analytical testing on a variety of samples using established protocols and instrumentation, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
  • Instrument Operation: Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, and other analytical tools.
  • Data Collection: Record and document experimental procedures, observations, and results with precision and attention to detail.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret analytical data, identify trends, and assist in drawing conclusions to support research projects and quality control processes.
  • Method Development: Collaborate with senior chemists and researchers to develop, validate, and optimize analytical methods and techniques.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all testing procedures meet quality control standards and regulatory requirements, and report any deviations or anomalies.
  • Laboratory Safety: Adhere to and promote a culture of laboratory safety, following established safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining laboratory supplies, reagents, and chemicals, and ensure their proper storage and organization.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments, procedures, and results in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support ongoing research projects, troubleshoot issues, and share insights and findings.
  • Training and Development: Participate in training sessions and seek continuous learning opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in analytical chemistry.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field (recent graduates are encouraged to apply).
  • Strong foundation in analytical chemistry principles and laboratory techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of analytical instruments and techniques, such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and wet chemistry.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to follow protocols and procedures.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.
  • Commitment to laboratory safety and adherence to best practices.

Preferred Skills:

  • Laboratory experience through internships or coursework.
  • Familiarity with analytical software and data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and laboratory quality control.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
