Microbiologist

Indianapolis $70,000 - $85,000 Permanent

Job Responsibilities:

  • Microbiological Testing: Perform a wide range of microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using established protocols and methods.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Conduct routine environmental monitoring of controlled areas, including air and surface sampling, to ensure compliance with GMP standards.
  • Aseptic Techniques: Maintain and operate aseptic environments, such as laminar flow hoods and isolators, to prevent contamination during microbiological testing.
  • Data Analysis: Accurately record, analyze, and interpret microbiological data, and report findings to the Quality Control team and relevant departments.
  • Method Development: Collaborate with the team to develop and optimize microbiological testing methods, ensuring they are up-to-date and in compliance with GMP regulations.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate records of all microbiological testing procedures, results, and deviations in accordance with GMP requirements.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Regularly calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability of testing.
  • Quality Assurance: Contribute to the development and improvement of quality control processes and procedures, with a focus on GMP compliance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with relevant industry regulations and guidelines, and ensure that all microbiological testing activities are in compliance.
  • Training and Education: Provide training and guidance to junior staff and team members on microbiological techniques, safety, and GMP best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a GMP-regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of microbiological techniques, aseptic practices, and laboratory equipment.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards, particularly GMP.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving work environment.
