Chemical Process Engineer

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and implement cost-saving process improvements, such as waste reduction, cycle-time reduction, lower-cost raw material qualification, scale-up, and shelf-life enhancements.
• Analyze and execute process improvements aimed at reducing cycle times, including batch process time reduction, increasing continuous process throughput, reducing pre/post-batch cleanout time, and enhancing quality to boost capacity.
• Identify and implement opportunities for site energy reduction and sustainability improvements.
• Collaborate closely with Operations and Central Engineering to achieve team goals and objectives.
• Work with team members to balance workloads, providing backup support as needed within the process improvement and central engineering teams.
• Participate in new business assessments and implementations, supporting the Technology group. This includes investigating methods, equipment, and processes required to manufacture new products, as well as assessing feasibility, costs, capital needs, and initial pricing.
• Support internal and external process engineering-related inquiries, including customer visits, which may require occasional travel.
• Deliver concise, accurate, and timely information as requested, including providing written status reports on assignments at least monthly.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to Process Improvement Engineering co-ops and interns.
• Contribute to improvements by participating in the PHA/MOC process and offering written guidance, training, and support.
• Coordinate contractors and their activities as needed.
• Facilitate effective communication with all relevant departments to ensure branch team success.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering or a related field is required.
• Industry experience within Chemical Manufacturing or similar industry, preferred.
• Experience in AutoCAD program software or similar software, preferred.
