Associate Formulation Scientist

Greater Boston $28 - $36/hr Contract

Job Responsibilities:

  • Experiment Design and Execution Plan and execute laboratory experiments using pharmaceutical sciences and engineering techniques.
  • Formulation Development, Design formulations for long-acting gastric release, utilizing processes such as hot melt extrusion, film deposition, spray coating, and spray drying.
  • Formulation Characterization, Characterize formulations for chemical, physical, processing, and stability attributes, applying chemical and mechanical principles.
  • Cross-functional collaboration Work closely with engineering, process, and analytical teams to optimize formulations and advance research projects.
  • Documentation and Reporting Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory notebooks and records. Prepare clear, comprehensive reports and presentations for research and development programs.
  • Data Integrity Ensure data accuracy and completeness and communicate findings effectively within established timelines.
  • Innovation Contribute to the discovery and development of novel approaches to control drug release and gastric residence.
  • Problem-Solving Troubleshoot experiments independently and deliver results with minimal supervision.
  • Training and Development Assist in training new staff members and fellow team members in designated processes, fostering a collaborative environment.


Qualifications:

  • Education/Certifications: B.A., B.Sc., or M.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bio/Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, with a minimum of 0-3 years of laboratory/formulation experience.
  • Experience: 1 year of relevant laboratory experience in experimental design, execution, and analysis (Essential). Knowledge of drug development, pharmacology, CMC, or regulatory processes is a plus.
  • Skills/Abilities: Strong written and oral communication skills, with a focus on clear documentation and collaboration (Essential).
  • Ability to work independently and follow protocols without supervision (Preferred).
  • Capability to troubleshoot and optimize experiments with minimal direction (Preferred).
  • Demonstrated flexibility, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Work Environment: This role requires resilience to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The candidate will work in a laboratory setting.
