Lead Chemist

Indianapolis $50,000 - $75,000 Contract

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the chemistry laboratory, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Manage laboratory resources, including equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
  • Lead and coordinate research and development projects, from concept to completion.
  • Design and execute experiments, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of chemists and laboratory technicians.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and support to team members.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and precision of analytical results.
  • Conduct regular reviews of laboratory data and documentation.
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of analytical methods.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements to enhance laboratory capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, quality control, and production, to integrate chemistry findings into product development and manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, preparing comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Present findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Participate in audits and assist in preparing regulatory submissions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Lead Chemist or in a similar leadership role within a chemical laboratory.
  • In-depth knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques, instrumentation, and method development.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, quality control procedures, and safety protocols.
