Medical Technologist

Indianapolis Competitive Contract

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of routine and complex medical laboratory tests using automated and manual procedures.
  • Utilize laboratory equipment and instrumentation to analyze samples, including blood, urine, and other body fluids.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and precision in test results.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to test performance and equipment.
  • Analyze test results and interpret findings, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Record and maintain comprehensive documentation of laboratory procedures and results.
  • Adhere to laboratory regulations, including safety protocols and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in proficiency testing and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards.
  • Collaborate with other laboratory staff, healthcare professionals, and management to ensure effective communication and workflow.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced laboratory personnel.
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and troubleshoot instrument issues.
  • Coordinate with the appropriate personnel for equipment repairs and calibrations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by a recognized accrediting agency (e.g., ASCP).
  • 1+ years of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment, and quality control measures.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
